Shaker Cemetery was copied from the Charles R. Hale Collection as found in the Connecticut State Library.

"Erected by the society of Shakers, Enfield, Connecticut an order of celibate communists to honor the memory of the members whose mortal remains are interred in this lot 1787 - 1915."

This is the inscription on a bronze tablet fastened to a monument which we are told is made from all the headstones which formerly were placed at the individual graves. Ann the stones were taken up and made into this one monument. As nearly as we can figure there were in the vicinity of 180 stones.
